SEMI-AVAILABLE FOR SALE
Allen Edmonds LaSalle Split Toe Blucher
Size: 9.5 UK / 10.5 US
Last: 108
This pair was my first ever full restore! I bought these at a steep discount on Ebay with the full intention of ripping them apart and crafting them back together. I didn’t have a split toe blucher in my collection, so I was excited to add this pair. I should also mention that my goal all along was to not only bring them back to working condition, but also make them look better than a new pair you could buy online. This style is no longer available on the Allen Edmonds website, but is possible to find used or via factory seconds. Here’s a link to what they look like new on the Allen Edmonds website.
Anyway, like I said, the approach was simple, rip the heels and soles off, take the finish on the uppers all the way down, and begin the rebuild. The rebuild consisted of replacing the old cork with thin pieces of memory foam padding, cement glueing and stitching a new leather outsole onto the original welt, and tacking into place a new rubber top lift (we recycled the fiberboard stacked heel).
I also wanted to change the color of the uppers to a deep burgundy and ink the welt and heels black; saw this look on a pair of split toes on Instagram and had to replicate it. To get the color textured the way it is, I actually applied two different leather dyes. The first was a medium brown and the second was a light burgundy. The application of one after the other gave the uppers a streaky, hand-done finish, which I love. To finish, I polished them up adding extra shin to the toes and the heels.
The technical name for this pair is the Allen Edmonds LaSalle Split Toe Blucher built on the 108 last. They are a size 10.5 US. Given this pair is my first, I can’t bear the thought of selling them (even though I have yet to wear them lol). But, as always, if you see them and absolutely have to have them, shoot me an inquiry and we’ll discuss.
